Things You CAN Do During A Pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re all aware of things we CAN’T DO safely: shake hands, share food or utensils, eat from a buffet, and until recently, go to gyms and movie theatres. We have good news for you! You CAN still do lots of things, while reducing your risk of getting COVID-19 (and the risk of passing it to others). Reminder: The UA policy is to wear a face-covering in all campus buildings and outdoors on campus (if you can’t maintain a consistent 6 foot distance from others). With many of the activities, below, you can maintain that safe distance. Here are some suggestions:

General Activities 

  • Netflix Party with friends
  • Go for a walk, bike ride, or hike
  • Socially distant outdoor picnic with others (bring your own food)
  • Read a book
  • Virtual game night with family or friends
  • Do Yoga
  • Meditate
  • Exercise at home
  • Watch a movie
  • Start a gratitude journal
  • Cook something new with a free Cooking On Campus class
  • Clean out your closet
  • Send a handwritten letter to a family member of friend
  • Call a friend
  • Do a drive-by visit
  • Throw a frisbee with a friend (use lots of hand sanitizer and don’t touch your face)
  • Go stargazing at night
  • Clean your car
  • Bake some cookies

On-Campus Activities

  • Work out at the Rec Center
  • Sit in the rocking chairs on the porch at Old Main with a friend
  • Visit the turtle pond near Park Ave
  • Walk/run around the mall
  • Swim at Campus Rec - reserve your lane ahead of time
  • Run the stairs at the Koffler Building
  • Read a book on the grassy Mall
  • Watch a sunset from atop a parking garage

Tucson Specific Activities

  • Hike Tumamoc hill
  • Drive up to the pines on Mt. Lemmon
  • Order from your favorite local restaurant
  • Rent a Tu Go bike
  • Visit Saguaro National Park
  • Hike in Catalina State Park or Sabino Canyon

In your home or apartment:

  • Learn how to draw or paint something
  • DIY Home Decor Projects
  • Learn how to cook a new meal
  • Grow a mini garden
  • Work out at home
